Labor safety and hygiene
Labor safety and hygiene means socioeconomic, managerial, technological and hygienic measures taken for ensuring the work ability and well being of person in the course of employment, and activities related to medical treatment, rehabilitation and protection from risks /Article 3.1.1 of Law on labor safety and hygiene/
The purpose of labor safety and hygiene is to maintain the health and work ability of employees and providing the safe and healthy work place. In order to implement this purpose, labor law, resolutions, and socioeconomic, managerial, technical, sanitation and hygiene issues shall be solved completely, impacts of industrial factors shall be reduced and industrial accidents and occupational diseases should be eliminated.

The law on labor safety and hygiene was issued in 2008 and it reflects government policy on labor safety and hygiene, its principles, common requirements for work places, the management for its implementation, organizational and monitoring structures, rights, obligations and responsibilities of government, employee and entity or organization, financing of preventive measures for industrial accidents and occupational diseases intended for providing safe and healthy labor conditions for employees and employed citizens.
Depending on number of entities’ employees the employment of full-time employee, authority, and committee, arrangement of job hazard analysis at workplaces with high risks, introducing of labor safety and hygiene management, requirements for industrial construction, machinery, equipment and toxic and hazardous chemicals, providing special work clothes and PPE, involving employees in medical screening and safety training were determined as responsibilities of employer as well as issues of preparation of labor safety and hygiene personnel and their refresh training.
Moreover, the law has strengthened the responsibilities towards monitoring of government, entities and public on execution of labor safety and hygiene laws and resolutions and its violators.
